There are four main reasons why car maintenance is important.

The first and foremost reason is that there are fewer chances of breaking down somewhere unexpectedly. There are a variety of even small things that could go wrong with your car that might cause problems, such as a dirty air filter, dead battery, corroded spark plugs, worn-out tires, and a lost wheel alignment.

The second reason for regular vehicle maintenance is that your car isn't going to have to sit in the auto shop quite as often for costly repairs. Because you are keeping up with preventative maintenance services, your auto repair technician will be able to find small problems before they get bad enough to cause problems. Something as simple as a dirty filter can allow debris and dirt inside of the engine, which means that not a lot of air is going to be able to reach the engine.

Thirdly, regular preventative maintenance actually costs less than major repairs. It will typically only cost you a few hundred dollars when a major repair could run into the thousands.

Fourthly, regular vehicle maintenance will help your vehicle last longer. This means that you need to have the oil changed on a regular basis and the belts and hoses inspected. All of these things can cause the engine in the car to fail. It is then you will need to make a decision as to whether make the necessary engine rebuild, or replace your vehicle.

Periodically rotating and replacing your tires is very important in terms of car safety and maintenance. Tire rotation is recommended every six months, or when having the vehicle's oil changed. Let's take a look at the many benefits of tire rotation, as well as when it's time to replace them:

1. Even Tire Wear

Uneven tire wear occurs when tires are never rotated. Tires on the front axle of your vehicle wear differently than those on the rear axle, making rotation essential for even wear. This allows the tires to serve the back and the front of the vehicle.

2. Smooth and Safe

A vehicle with regularly-rotated tires handles better, making it a much safer ride. It also results in a much smoother ride! Think about it: a vehicle featuring uneven tires is not going to provide a smooth driving experience.

3. Money Saver

Tire rotation also saves money! Tires last much longer when rotated at regular intervals due to even wear. You will therefore not have to replace them as often, which contributes to keeping automotive costs down.

4. Decreased Vibration and Noise

Tires featuring uneven wear tend to cause increased vehicle vibration, which is especially noticeable in the steering wheel. Unevenly-worn tires also result in increased road noise. Rotating tires regularly alleviates both of these issues.

5. Importance of Tire Replacement

Tires require replacing following severe damage, such as a puncture. They also need replacing when tire erosion is severe. The recommended trick is to place a quarter between two tire grooves, with George Washington's head facing down. If you can see Washington's head between the grooves, the tire has worn down and need replacing. A tire that is bald, or excessively worn down, does not grip the road as well. It subsequently takes much longer to stop and increases the possibility of skidding.

Changing the Tire

The brake system of your vehicle is by far the most important safety system that it has. Being able to slow down or stop at a moments notice will help to avoid an incident or accident. Improperly working brakes will not do the job they are designed to do and will not be as effective when needed, especially in a panic stop situation.

Brakes should be regularly inspected, we recommend having your trusted repair facility regularly test drive the vehicle to see how the brake system functions. They also perform an actual visual inspection, measuring pad and shoe thickness, check for even wear of the pads and shoes, check rotors for run out and hot spots, check the hardware to make sure it is working properly and that it is adjusted properly. Make sure the wheel cylinders, brake lines, and brake master cylinder are not leaking, inspect calipers for wear, free movement, and fluid leaks, and check the level and condition of the brake fluid. Inspect for proper routing and placement of the brake and antilock brake sensors.

All of these components need to be in good shape and working properly for the vehicle to have 100% brake system effectiveness while driving. For instance, something that seems simple is the brake fluid, it can get contaminated over time with the absorption of moisture and copper, this can decrease the effectiveness of the hydraulics within your brake system causing a less responsive brake pedal to the touch or feel, therefore causing a slight delay or reduction in braking power.

We recommend having your brake system inspected with each oil change or at minimum every 6 months or about every 6,000 miles. Then if the inspection reveals any issues with the brake system for your own safety and the safety of others, have it repaired to keep the brake system of your vehicle operating at 100% effectiveness. Battery Replacement is necessary on timely intervals to maintain efficiency and to keep the car running efficiently. A weak battery would mean that the car won’t start. Getting the battery checked before every season is necessary as different weather conditions affect the battery. It is good to make sure the battery is in good condition for the coming season.

A fully charged battery is at 12.6 A anything below it would cause problems. The car battery doesn’t only help start the car, but provides power to the engine, fuel system, internal accessories, vehicle lights, and others. The sign of a weak battery is when you notice the headlight or dashboard lights get dim and the car doesn’t start as smoothly as it used to. Once you notice these signs, it is important to get the battery checked. A battery usually lasts for around 3 to 5 years. The battery can also cause problems if the terminals are loose or there are buildup and corrosion around it.

Mechanics suggest you get these parts replaced by professionally trained and certified mechanics to avoid any problems in the future as the parts wearing out quickly or damage to other parts as a result of negligence. The best way to get them replaced is to get your car to a local auto repair shop or hire a mobile mechanic near you that would come to your home or office to provide the service.

Mechanics also suggest the owners read the manual to get to know more about the car and the intervals to get the various parts checked or replaced. It would help them get to know more about the car and know exactly when to book the appointment saving them time. If there are any doubts regarding the battery and spark plug replacement, you can consult a mechanic near you for more advice.

Finding a skilled transmission repair shop in your area will save you time and money in the long run, so ask family and friends if they've had a good experience with a local transmission shop, and do some research online. If you go to a shop for an estimate, pay close attention to its appearance. Is it clean, customer-centered, and are warranties offered?
